A crocheted washcloth

Difficulty Rating: Easy

Targeted Audience: Anyone



This is a great crocheted washcloth. It is an easy pattern and can be completed in less than an hour. Anyone who crochets can make this. It is a great starter project for the beginner too.


Supplies:

Crochet hook size H

1 skein of 100% cotton yarn


Directions:

Chain 24.Double Half Crochet in 2nd chain and double half crochet in the rest of the chains to end-22 double half crochets (DHC)

*Chain 2 and turn. DHC in each stitch to end (22 DHC).*Repeat between * for 18 rows.

Row 19 (begins border): chain 2 turn DHC to end. In last stitch DHC 3 and continue DHC down the side. (approximately 18 stitches). Crochet 3 DHC in corner and continue in each stitch down the next side. DHC 3 in the corner and continue to the top. DHC 2 in last stitch and slip stitch in first DHC.Chain 2 and DHC in each stitch around one more time, crocheting 3 DHC in corner stitch. Tie off and weave in ends.

Knitted Washcloth

Difficulty Rating: Easy (if you know how to knit)
Targeted Audience: Anyone

Washcloths are a staple in our household. They are used not only for the shower but for household chores too.

This is a tried and true knit washcloth pattern. It has been handed down through the ages and makes a great washcloth for the bath or kitchen. This is knit on the diagonal.
Supplies:
knitting needles #7 (or recommended size for yarn),
1 skein of 100% cotton yarn.
Directions:
Step 1:Cast on 3 stitches. Rows 1-3: Knit 3.

Step 2:Row 4: Knit 2, yarn-over(YO), K 1.Row 5: Knit 2, YO, Knit to end. Continue with Knit 2, YO, and Knit to end until you have 44 stitches on your needles.

Step 3:Next row: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, YO, Knit 2 together, knit to end. Continue Knit 1, Knit 2 together, YO, Knit 2 together, and knit to end until you have 5 stitches on your needles.

Step 4:Next row (with 5 stitches): Knit 1, knit 2 together, YO, Knit 2 together. Next row (with 4 stitches): Knit 1, Knit 2 together, knit 1. Next three rows: knit 3, Cast off and weave in yarn.
